Action Stations

Fri 1st August 1410am-3pm

Our Action Stations activity days are for children with special educational needs aged 7years and over. Days are tailored towards the children attending and a variety of activities are available. Children get a choice between a 'more adventurous' and 'less adventurous' option throughout the day and activities can include: archery, climbing, clay work, orienteering, shelter building, nature walks, photography, drums, ropes courses, raft building, maze, blindfold trail and more! These days are heavily subsidised thanks to a BBC Children in Need grant and a grant from Francis Holland School and can only continue through ongoing support such as this.

This free drop-in session is perfect to get your little ones exploring the outdoors. No need to book - simply arrive at 2pm to join in our Gruffalo Walk through our woods. We will meet all of the Gruffalo characters along the way as we re-live this fantastic story. This session is free although donations are welcome. Please arrive promptly at The Burrow, our community building, next to the main car park. Older siblings are welcome to join in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Camping at the Croft

Come and join us for our annual camping event. Arrive from 3pm on Saturday. We will hold a BBQ of local food at 6pm including dessert, followed by a campfire. Our evening activities include games, a nightwalk in the woods and setting humane traps for mammals and moths so you can catch a glimpse of nocturnal wildlife at Sayers Croft. Places must be booked for all party members - children 3years and younger go free.

Gold Duke of Edinburgh Residential Week

Sayers Croft are pleased to offer a dedicated Gold Duke of Edinburgh residential week at our centre, based in Ewhurst, Surrey. The week will consist of adventure activities, such as rock climbing, high ropes, zip wire and archery as well as conservation work. Previous projects have included tree coppicing, tree planting, fence building, path laying, pond dredging and woodland management. The cost of the week is £195 (discount applies for Westminster residents) and includes all meals, accommodation and activities led by enthusiastic, professional instructors. We also offer transport to and from Guildford train station. As well as fulfilling the requirements for the Gold Residential section, participants will also gain a John Muir Discovery award. Become a Celtic Warrior and a Roman Soldier in our fun-filled Celts and Romans day. Feel for yourself how heavy Roman armour is, make your own clay pots to take home, learn how to spear a wild boar, practice Roman shield wall tactics, bake some Celtic bread, learn the art of fire lighting and build giant catapults to defend your camp against invaders! For our Woodland Explorers day we will be based in our Local Nature Reserve and spend the whole day in the woods! We will start off exploring the woodland and learning the boundaries before going on a scavenger hunt making mobiles with what we collect. In the afternoon we will plant some elder trees before trying our hand at some whittling. All activities are run by our Forest Schools qualified leader!

Charity Pub Quiz at the Bulls Head
